Happy National Encourage a Young Writer Day!
April 10 is National Encourage a Young Writer Day. Do you know a young someone who has a vivid imagination, maybe someone who likes to tell stories and reads a lot of books? These may be the signs of a great young writer in the making! Now would be the time to talk to them about their ideas and their dreams, their goals and aspirations and then followup with encouragement about their writing.
Many writers started at a young age and went on to become famous. Anne Frank and Stephen King were among those that started writing stories at very young ages.

A SIT-STAND DESK WILL:
Prolonged sitting often contributes to back and shoulder pain. When the spine is inactive for long periods of time, posture and physical condition worsen. Joints do not receive adequate blood supply when you are inactive. When joints move, they let nutrients in and waste is pumped out. Frequent physical movement is important for the health of your spine and discs.
Being focused at work is admirable. But too often we don’t realize how long we have been sitting in the same position. Problems from prolonged sitting can be easily addressed with a sit-stand desk. Alternating between a standing and sitting position is the best option for a healthy work environment.
We did it! We survived another winter! Now it’s time to get our hands dirty and tackle all of the dust, dirt and grime that has made their way into our classrooms! To prevent you from getting overwhelmed we have come up with some tips on how to get the spring cleaning done minus the anxieties:
1. Divide and Conquer!- Divide the classroom into sections and number them. Tackling these sections one at a time will keep you focused. Don’t start one project without finishing the one previous!
2. Declutter!- Throw out all of those broken crayons, crinkled papers, and everything else that have no purpose. Get your students involved!
3. Create Piles!- Lets get some organization in the classroom. Create piles for items to donate, items to throw out, and items to return. Because let’s face it, sometimes we forget to give things back. Whooops!
4. Start from the bottom and work your way down!- Start cleaning the walls first, working your way to the floor. This rule particularly applies to dusting—once you finish dusting from top to bottom, you can vacuum or sweep up any last remnants.
5. Rearrange!- Now that the classroom is so fresh and so clean,clean start to rearrange the room.
6. Maintainenance!- Keep up the cleanliness throughout the remainder of the year! (Or at least try!)
